Our Mother of Consolation Recognizes Salesian Students

Our Mother of Consolation School (OMC) introduced the Annual Salesian Writing Contest as part of their Feast of St. Francis de Sales. Students in grades 4-8 were invited to write a reflection celebrating hope, our patron often wrote about the power of optimism.  As the Church begins this Jubilee Year of Hope, students were asked to answer the question: where do you find hope and how can you contribute to bring hope to our world?

Each grade winner received $50 and the overall winner, Olesandra, a 7th grader, received $100. She arrived from the Ukraine, just two years ago, with no English skills. On scholarship at OMC School, Olesandra is living with her parents at the home of OMC parishioners. All winners were announced at the school Mass for the Feast of St. Francis de Sales, pictured below with Fr. John Fisher, OSFS, Pastor. You can read Olesandra’s winning essay here

OMC also hosts a Salesian Virtue of the Month where outstanding students are recognized for demonstraing a Salesian virtue. Pictured below are students who demonstrated December's virtue: charity.
