Why did I come to Nativity?

Nativity Preparatory School

Hi! My name is Raleir Tate, and I am an Eighth grader at Nativity. “Why did I come to Nativity?” A simple but deep question that could span over multiple essays, but I'm fitting it into one. However, let me start in the beginning, after the tragedy I moved to Delaware with my aunt. After I lived with my aunt for about three months I got into my first school In Delaware named Las Americas Aspira Academy. Unfortunately, this was during the pandemic season which ruined my first experience with schools in Delaware. Following the first school, I went to my second school St. Peter the Apostle. However, after a few incidents, I was transferred out because of my aunt's fear that my wellness was not being put first. Later, I transferred to New Castle Elementary, where I finished my 5th-grade year.

During my time at New Castle Elementary School, my aunt stumbled upon a school named Nativity Prep. She then informed me of the school, however unlike now, I was opposed to the idea. Things like the extended day, and 11-month school year were off-putting back then. Nevertheless, I gave it a chance and went on a shadow day, contrary to my belief, I loved it! When I came in I started out in math class and found the teacher kind and helpful, and when I did good he gave me my props and made me feel rewarded for learning the material. Then we had Spanish class although I never learned anything about Spanish, the teacher made it easy to grasp and gave me help when I needed it. Then we moved on to lunch in which we had Chick-fil-A! That already put this school above every other middle school I was looking to attend. Next, we had recess where all the students made me feel included and they included me for a football game with no problems. They hyped me up when I made good plays and helped me up when I was down for a bad play. Moreover, the extended day was not nearly as bad as I imagined it would be. We had an hour to do homework so we didn't have to be at home and we had extracurricular activities at school. It was a special experience for me, particularly at a time when I was dealing with bad schools, Nativity stood out from the rest.

Nativity overall is a great school, I honestly believe that it is the best middle school in Delaware as a whole. Although that is my opinion, I believe that all of the people who attended this school would agree. A particularly special memory of Nativity is when my father passed away I was away from the school for a while. Instead of swarming me with too many questions, my principal met me outside and gave me a hug. Then she gifted me with a memento to remember him by. Then even my classmates expressed their sympathy for me. This reminded me of the warm heart that people at Nativity have. These are only a fraction of the many reasons I love nativity and why it will always have a special place in my heart.

I LOVE NATIVITY.
